BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Poland, Eva started her music career at a young age and quickly garnered attention as the lead singer of the popular rock group Custom. She was featured on multiple television shows including the Morning Show and Star Search. She continued to work on her craft and went on to win several singer/songwriter competitions in her native country. Eva's journey through different genres of music eventually led her to fall in love with opera. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Kraków with a Master of Arts in Voice and Drama, she embarked on her operatic career, performing on stages throughout Europe and the United States.
Eva Vidavska Kumar's operatic career includes a number of notable performances, such as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte with the New York Lyric Opera Theatre and the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. She portrayed Josephine in A. Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore with Charleston Light Opera Guild, Frasquita in Carmen directed by Bodo Igesz from the Metropolitan Opera, Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème with The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, directed by maestro Grant Cooper. Eva has also portrayed Silva in E. Kalman's operetta Princess of Chardash with Operetta Kraków. Earlier in her career, she played Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro with The Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków. Adina in Donizetti's L’Elisir d’amore at The Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków and Witch in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas at the Florianka Music Hall in Kraków.
On the concert stage, Eva performed “Musetta's Waltz” from La Bohème at "A Night on Broadway" concert with The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. At the Warsaw Ministry of Culture she sung "Portrait of a Contemporary Composer" featuring the works of Mariusz Dubaj. She also, sung as Violetta from La traviata and Musetta from La Bohème at the Phillips Brooks Annual Gala Fundraiser. She also performed Schumann's "Frauenliebe und Leben" at The Academy of Music in Kraków and Nowy Sacz Opera Festival.
Her oratorio performances include, Krzysztof Penderecki's Credo at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland and at the Krzysztof Penderecki Festival during Kraków's European City of Culture celebration, both directed by maestro Krzysztof Penderecki. Eva also participated in The 3rd Annual Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival in Kraków, performing in Handel's Messiah.
Recordings include - Darkling by S. Weisman and A. Rabinowitz with American Opera Projects, Song cycle "Portrait of a Contemporary Composer" by Mariusz Dubaj.
During her early composer/songwriter career Eva was recognized by Polish Ministry of Art with 1st Place at the Young Composers and Singers Competition and 1st Place at the Original Music Composition Competition.
Currently Eva lives in the Bay Area with her husband and son. She enjoys teaching voice and music theory at her private vocal studio and working on her new compositions.
